As of June 15, 2022 the Modell Aachen GmbH will stop supporting Internet Explorer. Since our releases will no longer be compatible with the Internet Explorer from this date, you must expect significant restrictions if you continue to use Internet Explorer. We recommend that you switch to the latest versions of Chrome, Edge and Firefox as early as possible in order to continue using Q.wiki as usual.
Background
Already since 2021, some services from Microsoft, e.g. the Microsoft 365 Apps, no longer support Internet Explorer. As of June 15, 2022, Microsoft will begin to discontinue support for Internet Explorer for operating systems as well. Microsoft recommends Internet Explorer users to switch to the new Microsoft Edge with Internet Explorer Mode, which is also supported by Q.wiki.
Since Internet Explorer is outdated, supporting Internet Explorer in the development of modern web applications generates complexity and effort in implementation as well as in quality assurance. By focusing on modern browsers, we can simplify and accelerate the further development of Q.wiki, make targeted use of new web technologies and further advance quality assurance through automation.
What does this mean in concrete terms?
For our Q.wiki Now! customers, this means that if you are using Internet Explorer, you can expect significant restrictions immediately after June 15, 2022. Important: Bugs related to Internet Explorer will no longer be solved from this date on! Instead we will be referring to the latest versions of Chrome, Edge and Firefox.
Our Enterprise customers must expect identical restrictions for updates to Q.wiki versions after June 15, 2022. However, there is still the option to remain on the last Q.wiki version compatible with Internet Explorer. This version will be supported as usual for another year regarding critical bugs. Since this version will not be able to benefit from new features and regular updates as usual, we strongly recommend Enterprise customers to switch to a supported browser as well.
