About SKZ – The plastic center
Since 1961, the SKZ has been a competent partner for the entire plastics industry. At its headquarters in Würzburg and at five other locations throughout Germany, the Plastics Center offers services related to research, education and training, testing and monitoring of plastic products, and certification of management systems.
The challenge ahead of Q.wiki
Our education division has already been certified according to ISO 9001 since 1999. The corresponding management system was largely based on Word and Excel documents and was stored in a classic folder structure on our server. Since 2015, we decided to merge the education and reasearch divisions and, in the process, to also introduce a quality management system in our research department and have it certified. The challenge: to unite the two different worlds of research and education in a common, digital management system.
The decision for Q.wiki
We were looking for a lean software solution for our new management system. It was particularly important to us that the system be easily accessible as well as simple to operate and maintain - so our decision fell on Q.wiki. In addition, the fast approval process and the change history convinced us of the software. The fact that several employees can work together on one document was also a clear plus point! Just like the familar Wikipedia design of Q.wiki, which makes working with the software even easier.
The results of Q.wik
All 450 SKZ employees now have access to Q.wiki. In addition to the processes in the areas of research and training, all important information from our central services - including IT, marketing and human resources - has been documented in the interactive management system since the beginning of 2020. In the future, we can well imagine extending Q.wiki to the orher SKZ companies.
The new management software has proved particularly useful for us in these areas:
- process management
- minutes management
- risk management
- audit management
In addition to the ISO 9001 certification for our research area, we also passed the audit for AZAV - Accreditation and Approval Regulation for Employment Promotion - with Q.wiki at the first attempt. The training measures of certified companies are subsidized with tax money. Therefore, it is quite time-consuming to prove and document the implemented requirements of AZAV. With the help of Q.wiki, however, we have also managed to do this will!
There auditors were impressed by our clear management system with fully traceable revisions of all contents, the minutes and risk management as well as the high numbers of accesses. The audit and measures management in Q.wiki were also positively highlighted.
