As the inventor of the wire roller bearing, the Franke GmbH team has been solving the individual requirements of customers in the area of rotary and linear motion since 1936. Today, Franke is internationally known as a specialist in rolling bearings and linear systems. In addition to its headquarters in Aalen, the company has numerous representatives all over the world.
Previously, we had numerous documents in various formats stored on our file server, and we created and embedded flowcharts using Microsoft Visio. Our QM department maintained the management system centrally, which made amendments and approvals extremely complex.
As a result, many processes were only superficially described, and critical information was rarely up to date. This made it particularly difficult for new employees to understand procedures and instructions.
Our former system could best be described as a classic “audit manual” — useful for certification, but of little help in everyday operations.
A further and ongoing challenge for us is digital transformation: as a company, we aim to successfully master the balancing act between traditional manufacturing and pioneering technologies — together with our team.
For our management system, we were looking for a modern, easy-to-use tool — in short: the complete opposite of the system we had before!
There are many interesting tools on the market that claim to offer this. However, it was the holistic concept of Modell Aachen GmbH that ultimately convinced us most.
Their decentralized approach aligns perfectly with our corporate philosophy:
All employees are involved in creating and optimizing our processes.
Continuous improvement is part of our daily business — and Q.wiki is the ideal fit for that mission.
Q.wiki quickly established itself across the company as our actively used management system and central knowledge hub.
With the Generator module, we’ve taken a major step toward digital transformation:
The workflow management tool allows us to create custom apps within Q.wiki and to digitize existing processes independently.
Q.wiki especially proved itself as an essential tool and digital info board during the COVID-19 pandemic:
“Q.wiki was the ideal introduction to knowledge and process management on a broad basis for us.”
“It is not certificates that carry out the processes successfully — it is the employees. And 86% of the workforce is in our management system every month.”
“In the past, regulatory processes and the like were a necessary evil. Now there is real added value for the workforce.”
